It’s Pride month! Though this is obviously not my first Pride since coming out, it’s the first one I’ve marked in any way on the site. What better way to celebrate Pride than with poetry? Here are a few places you’ll find me over the next several weeks.
First up, I’ll be reading a short set at LGBT Health and Wellbeing‘s annual Pride Breakfast on the morning of Edinburgh Pride, Saturday 22nd June. Also performing will be JJ Fadaka, who readers might remember from the Loud Poets international women’s day event, Speak Up! (incidentally, the video of the full show from that night is available on the Loud Poets YouTube channel) and musician Lou McLean. This event is already sold out.
A few days later, I’ll performing as part of the Camp Trans Scotland fundraiser cabaret at Leith Depot on Wednesday 26th June. Camp Trans Scotland is a community-led, DIY, sober camp organised by trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. Tickets for the camp have aready sold out (and I missed them <sob>) but funds are still needed to hire the venue, buy supplies and organise or subsidise travel to make getting to the camp as accessible as possible. The cabaret will be a really varied line-up of queer and trans musicians, dancers, drag artists, poets and more. Get your tickets on OutSavvy here.
Finally, I’m also appearing at the Loud Poets showcase at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on 19th July. More about that in due course, but I can tell you it looks like it’s going to be a really fun evening. Get in sharp and book here.
