I know, I know – I haven’t said anything about how well the recent(ish) readings went. (Very well indeed, thanks.) I’ve been busy with family, writing and sending out poems (a rejection – the third out of the four submissions I’ve sent this year so far – arrived this afternoon and I’m actively planning more submissions). Yes, I did say I’d been busy writing, and I’m excited to be able to say I’m not just creating individual poems now but actively writing a third collection.

Anyway, the main reason for this post is the fact that a few new videos of my poems have gone up in the last week or so. First, Eco-Congregation Scotland has created short filmpoems for “Summa” from The Ambulance Box and “Renewables” from The North End of the Possible.

It’s great to see these pieces from the collections, which are out of print, finding a new life in this form, and this time under my chosen name rather than my deadname.
Then there’s a video of my opening poem from the Loud Poets showcase, “Everything is Running Out at Once:“.

(The comment at the start telling the audience to “prepare to be depressed in a good way” is the tail end of my intro to the poem, which explained that my son had said to me earlier that day “Most of your poems are depressing in a good way.” Lol, as I don’t think the kids say any more.) There are also videos of Heather Rose, Jack Hunter and Anthony Anaxagorou, giving you a flavour of how varied and strong the evening was. (You’ll notice Heather, Jack and Anthony are all accompanied by a guitarist, Jack Hinks. I was too for one poem, but the one I chose to be accompanied for was about 12 minutes long so you’ll have to forgo that pleasure! Said poem, “Reekie’s Bane”, was written for a Sidekick Books anthology to be published on 2 September, Ten Poets Defend Their Cities from Giant Strange Beasts. More anent that anon.)
Enjoy the videos, and do subscribed to the Eco-Congregation Vimeo channel and to the Loud Poets YouTube channel!
