On Friday 25th, I’ll be back at Blackwell’s to read at the launch of The Golden Hour Book ii, an anthology of poetry, prose and music (it comes with a CD) by writers and musicians who have appeared at the eponymous literary cabaret, held in The Forest Cafe. It should be a good evening. The book also includes work by Robert Alan Jamieson, Alan Gillis, Kona Macphee, Kapka Kassabova, Ryan Van Winkle and Claire Askew among others. I don’t know who else is reading on the night, but I guess Robert Alan and Ryan will be. Event details are available on the Blackwell’s site and on Facebook.
I have to say, I’m impressed with how Blackwell’s in Edinburgh is supporting contemporary writing through its events programme. Blackwell’s Writers at the Fringe was a good reading series; books that otherwise would only have seen the shelves of the shop in single copies were prominently displayed in the window and at the entrance; and the space they use is good. I wish more of the bigger bookshops would be so dynamic!
