The End of the World As We Know It?!

It seems that the rapture will come, according to some people, on Saturday. So I thought I’d share with you all my predictions for the end of the world:

It Comes to the Crunch

When the people heard
this was the last day of the world

some headed home
to pack their cameras and feed the dog

some for the shops
to hunt down one last bargain

others to the blogosphere
to expound on the coming disaster

but more to the nearest pub
(where oblivion

seemed less in light of oblivion)
while the remainder

took to the kirks, mosques,
synagogues and temples

where they divided: one band
hammering the timbrel

the other pledged to quiet
till the real end breaks.

  1. In the past people would have taken to their beds, some to hide under the covers, a few to make love for one last time. Did they say what time it’s coming? It’s a Saturday: some of like to sleep in on a Saturday and we’d hate to miss it.

    1. Just Saturday. I mean, there’s specific and there’s specific. Oh, and the world will end properly in October, which at least means we’ll get to see the autumn colours here.
